The Grand National is the most famous National Hunt race in the racing calendar and commands a prize fund of over £1million, making it the most valuable race over fences in Europe.

A maximum of 40 horses will take on the 30 fences across a distance of 4 miles and 514 yards at Aintree.

Tuesday 20 - Saturday 24 June

Royal Ascot hosts 18 group races across the five days in June including the formidable 2 mile 4 furlong Gold Cup on Ladies' Day. Some of the best racehorses in the world compete for a slice of the prize money valued at over £6.58million making it Britain's most lucrative race meeting.

Queen Elizabeth II attends Royal Ascot each year along with other members of the Royal Family, arriving by horse-drawn carriage during the daily Royal procession.

Among the 18 group races are eight Group 1 races including The Queen Anne Stakes, The Diamond Jubilee Stakes and The Coronation Stakes as well as The Gold Cup.

British Grand Prix

Friday 14 – Sunday 16 July

Cheer on Lewis Hamilton and Max Chilton on home turf at the British Grand Prix and enjoy all the class and glamour that Silverstone has to offer.

The British Open

Sunday 16th - Sunday 23rd July

This year The British Open takes place at Royal Birkdale in Southport with the world's greatest golfers battling it out for the famous Claret Jug.

This will be the 146th British Open, the oldest of the four major professional golf championships and also the only major to be held out side of the US.

Fourteen different UK courses host The Open with Royal Birkdale last hosting in 2008 when Ireland's Padraig Harrington took the title. The current champion is Henrik Stenson who claimed victory at Royal Troon last year with a record-breaking score of −20.

You can enjoy seeing the big names put their practice in on Sunday through to Wednesday then prepare for the stakes to rise as the Championship kicks off on Thursday culminating on Sunday's final.

Glorious Goodwood

Tuesday 1 - Saturday 5 August

The Qatar Goodwood Festival, affectionately known as Glorious Goodwood, is thought of as the highlight of the flat-racing season.

If you have a need for speed the big thrills come on the Friday from the sprint races as the horses reach top speeds of over 40mph over five furlongs on the famous downhill track. It's not just the speed that can get your heart racing, close finishes are not uncommon with horses often winning by less than a length.

The pinnacle of the sprint races is the King George Stakes which has some impressive sprinting names laying claim to the title. But the Sussex Stakes is the big race of the festival, taking place on the Wednesday thoroughbreds of three years and older will compete for the glory.
