The United States Department of Commerce have proposed a massive 220% import tax on Bombardier's C-Series jet. The ruling is a result from a petition from rival aircraft manufacturer Boeing who claimed Bombardier had been given an unfair advantage due to the subsidies they receive from the Canadian and UK governments. They claim this has allowed them to effectively sell the manufactured aircraft at a lower price than the cost to produce them due to the subsidies being given.

Bombardier have described the ruling as absurd and are due to launch an appeal. Both the UK and Canadian governments have also expressed disappointment towards the ruling as there is concern that thousands of jobs across Canada and in Northern Ireland could be at risk in the areas where Bombardier are based.
